2022 한국건축가협회상 Best7 2022 한국건축문화대상 사회공공부문 대상 2022 제40회 서울특별시 건축상 대상 2021 대한민국 공공건축상 최우수상 2021 대한민국 우수교육시설 최우수상 2018 신길중학교 신축공사 설계공모 당선 고층아파트 옆 작은 [집] 신길중학교의 설계의도는 단순하면서도 역설적이다. 신길뉴타운 안의 학교부지는 20층 이상 규모의 고층아파트들로 둘러싸여 있고，이곳의 학생들은 이와 같은 획일적이고 거대한 도시스케일의 아파트에서 살아간다. 그래서 그곳에 사는 학생들을 위해서 학교는 이와 반대로 ‘집’처럼 위압적이지 않은 작고 낮은 모습이면 좋겠다고 생각했다. 교실크기로 분절된 매스는 한 개의 교실이 하나의 집과 같은 느낌을 준다. 등교하는 학생들을 맞이하는 것은 운동장을 지나 도달하는 박스형의 4층 건물이 아니라 2층 집의 모습으로 옹기종기 모인 아담한 자기 교실이길 바랐다. 마을같은 다양성 집합체로서의 학교는 또한 다채로운 모습을 갖도록 하였다. 개개인의 개성과 창의력이 발현되는 중학생들에게 특히 ‘개별성’과 '다양성’ 은 중요한 가치를 지닌다. 학교가 거대한 단일매스나 2〜3개의 매스로 이루어지는 것이 아니라，개별적인 [집]들의 집합체인 마을처럼 조화로운 동시에 다양한 모습을 갖도록 한 이유다. 삼각지붕인 집도 있고，평지붕의 집도 있다. 교실 천정도 평천정과 박공천정으로 일률적이지 않다. 마감재에도 변화를 부여했다. 낮고 넓게 펼쳐진 학교 신길중학교는 대지단차에 순응하여 낮고 넓게 펼쳐져있다. 학교건물이 앞에서부터 2,3,4층의 테라스하우스처럼 배치되어，등하교 시 마주하는 학교의 모습은 마치 2층 높이의 야트막한 이웃집들과 가로수들이 늘어선 편안한 동네길의 모습이 된다. 가까운 마당과 다방향 순환동선 신길중학교에는 감수성이 풍부한 중학생들을 위하여，문 열면 바로 앞에 있는 마당으로 나가서 자연과 교감할 수 있는 다양한 중정들이 곳곳에 배치되어 있다. 마당을 끼고 있는 집처럼 교실 사이사이에 만들어진 작은 마당에는 자작 나마，대나무，낙엽수，꽃나무 등도 심어놔서 아이들이 학교 안에서도 사계를 느끼고 하늘을 볼 수 있다. 과거의 전형적인 학교는 폐쇄적인 공간과 일차원적인 단일동선을 가졌다. 신길중학교에서는 내，외부 또는 위，아래로 막힘없는 다양한 순환동선을 갖도록 하였다.각 층의 내，외부를 가로지르는 순환동선은 마치 마을의 아기자기한 골목길과 같다. 학생들은 중정을 가로질러서 건너편 홈베이스나 교실로 갈 수 있고，옥외 계단으로 각층 옥상마당을 오르내릴 수도 있다. A small [house] next to a high-rise apartment The design intent of Singil Middle School is simple yet paradoxical. The school site in Singil New Town is surrounded by high-rise apartments with 20 stories or more, and students here live in uniform and huge city-scale apartments. So, for the students living there, I thought it would be good if the school, on the other hand, had a small, low profile that wasn't overbearing like a 'home'. The mass segmented into the size of a classroom gives one classroom the feeling of one home. I hoped that it would not be a box-shaped four-story building that reached through the playground to welcome students to school, but rather a small, self-con­ tained classroom in the shape of a two-story house. Village-like diversity The school as a collective also has a colorful appearance. “Individuality” and “diversity” are especially important to middle school students, where each individual9 s individuality and creativity are expressed. It is for this reason that the school is not made up of a single huge mass or two or three masses, but has a harmonious and diverse appearance like a village, which is an aggregate of individual [houses]. Some houses have triangular roofs and some have flat roofs. Classroom ceilings are not uniform, with flat ceilings and gable ceilings. Changes were also made to the finishing materials. Low and wide school Singil Middle School is spread low and wide in conformity with the level of the site. T The school building is arranged like a terrace house on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors from the front, so the appearance of the school facing you when you go to school becomes like a comfortable neighborhood street lined with small two-story neighboring houses and street trees. Close yard and Multidirectional circulation In Singil Middle School, for middle school students who are rich in sensitivity, various courtyards are arranged in various places where they can go out to the yard right in front of the door and commune with nature. I wanted the students to go out to the yard where they could bask in the sun and fresh air if they opened the doors in the classroom, hallway, and library. Birch trees, bamboo, deciduous trees, and flower trees are planted in the small yard between the classrooms, like a house with a yard, so that children can feel the four seasons and see the sky even in school. A typical school in the past had a closed space and one-dimensiona single flow. Singil Middle School has a variety of circulation lines that do not block inside or outside, or up and down. The circulation line that crosses the inside and outside of each floor is like a cute alleyway in the village. Students can cross the courtyard and go to the opposite home base or classroom, or use the outdoor stairs to climb up and down the rooftop yard on each floor.
